Fainting goats come in several different colors and patterns. I decided to set up a page to show them. I am also including pygmy goat colors and nigerian dwarf colors so people can see the difference. With the increased interested in the Mini Silky breed, many people do not realize yet that mini silkies often have Nigerian in their backgrounds and may accidentally buy or sell them thinking they are purebred when they are not. Mini silkies are allowed to have nigerian or pygmy in them as they are breeding for a "look". Which is long, silky hair, upright Nigerian/pygmy ears, and they do not have to faint. They are also more petite then purebred fainters as well. All pictures used with permission from their owners.

Solid black, can have frosted ears and muzzle or solid black.

Black & white. The far most common color in the fainting goat. A very common pattern is black head/neck and white back/behind.

Tri-color. Tri-color can be any combination of three colors. Goats with moon spots are considered tri-color or quad-colored due to extra coloring from the moonspots.The last picture is often called a black and tan.

Blue. Blue is a fairly rarer color but is becoming more popular. 

Tan. Not quite red, and not quite brown, tans are the in between, they are also considered gold. Like other colors, if they have white and black markings, they are tri-colors.

Cream. Lighter yet then tan, but not true white. Often called Apricot.

Red. True reds are a rich red coloring with no brownish tones. Some reds will have black markings but are considered tri-color. Some reds are almost a chocolate color at birth, then lighten to red. Some reds are a more orange-ish red, or "rusty" red.

Chocolate/brown. Some people to call them chocolate, others, brown. However they will not have black markings on them. Chocolates with white and black markings are considered tri-colored.There is light chocolates, and dark chocolates (browns).

Roan. Roans are a solid color with white hairs intermixed throughout. Blues are often roans. First is a bay roan, second is a purple roan, and last is a strawberry roan.

Moon spots. Moon spots are any color spots EXCEPT for black, or white, on a solid color base...NOT white. So a white goat with black spots is not moon spotted, but a black goat with brown spots is. They may be in patches or bands of color.

Peacock pattern. These have a tan front, and then a black or brown back half. They will also have dark legs, and black stripes on their heads. Also know as the "Alpine" pattern. If they have large bands of white, they are considered the "broken" peacock pattern. Most peacocks have Beechkeld breeding.

Black belly or Badge face pattern. Note the dark legs, dark belly and dark stripes around the eyes. The last two pictures come from The Bar T Ranch.

Flowery pattern. Can be any color that has feathery edging to the outsides of the color. Pretty much all flowery goats have Beechkeld breeding.
